Westminster Abbey was founded in 960 AD and is one of the most historically significant churches in the United Kingdom. In addition, it is a building of outstanding architectural significance and an unrivalled national mausoleum.

Westminster Abbey has been involved in some of the most significant moments in history. Here have taken place all the kings' coronations.

The Abbey is also the final resting place for 17 monarchs, but it's not only royalty who are buried here. Over 3,300 famous people have been buried in the Abbey. Among others are the graves of Charles Dickens, Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin and Stephen Hawking.

On the northern side rises the most famous clock, Big Ben.

One important event that will take place soon is the coronation of King Charles III. The King will be crowned alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort, on Saturday, 6 May 2023.
